The secret to doing your own PR

Today, I watched a replay of the Masterclass “The Secret to doing your own PR” given by Odette Barry [she/her] and Lynda Williams on Launchpad

Although I understand the necessity to handle this “earned” channel as part of your marketing strategy, I must confess that PR is out of my expertise. 

These are my key takeaways from this great masterclass: 

โžก๏ธ๐ƒ๐จ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ก๐จ๐ฆ๐ž๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ฌ ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ซ๐ฌ๐ญ – go through a deep and detailed digital audit to ๐Ÿ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ฉ๐ž๐ซ๐Ÿ๐ž๐œ๐ญ ๐ฆ๐ž๐๐ข๐š. As for any marketing strategy, the secret is to ๐Ÿ๐จ๐œ๐ฎ๐ฌ ๐จ๐ง ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐œ๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ฆ๐ž๐ซ๐ฌ. In the case of PR, what media do they like and enjoy?

Follow what they write, understand what their topics of interest are, comment when you like their articles, โ€ฆ 

โžก๏ธ๐…๐ข๐ง๐ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐ช๐ฎ๐ž๐ง๐ž๐ฌ๐ฌ and tell your amazing story. Think of your “why”. 

โžก๏ธ When you finally pitch, ๐๐จ๐ง’๐ญ ๐›๐ž ๐š๐Ÿ๐ซ๐š๐ข๐ ๐ญ๐จ ๐ฌ๐ž๐ง๐ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฅ๐ž ๐Ÿ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐จ๐ฐ๐ฌ-๐ฎ๐ฉ๐ฌ!

Your social media/website/newsletter/blog must be set to get your customer throughout his journey to purchase your product or service.
